Education company donates $5k to Jackson Public Schools’ teachers and support staff for safe drinking water.
The Jackson, MS water crisis shows a city struggling to provide access to safe drinking water. CT3 Education, in its second year of partnership with Jackson Public Schools, took decisive action to assist the district’s oft-overlooked staff this week by donating $5,000 that was used at its leaders’ discretion for individual school support for non-certified staff, and 1,000 cases of bottled water purchased from local Kroger foods. Jackson Public School officials are prioritizing the distribution of the water for staff who are going without water that is safe for drinking or bathing much like the students and families they serve within the community.
When asked about CT3’s decision to respond to the community’s need, CEO, Nataki Gregory had this to say, “We’re sending a targeted message of support to our Jackson family, as a small show of our partnership with them in support of Jackson educators and scholars.”
CT3 sees this as an extension of being true partners with the districts it serves. Kendra Shipmon, CT3 partnership manager and associate worked with Thea Faulkner in the JPS Partners in Education office and Laketia Marshall-Thomas in the superintendent’s office. “We are hopeful that our donation to the faculty and staff are a reminder that the greater community is appreciative of the work they do every day to serve students. We are committed to the Jackson community in and out of the classroom.”
The Jackson community received CT3’s generous support with open arms. Dr. Errick Greene, Superintendent of Jackson Public Schools said, “Oh my goodness! Thank you to the entire CT3 team. Thank you for your partnership and for these generous donations. I’m blown away by your compassion for our community. “
CT3’s mission is to transform the quality and culture of education for youth, especially those in traditionally disenfranchised communities. Their partnership in Jackson includes coaching leaders, coaches, and teachers to improve outcomes for students. They currently work in 10 schools in JPS across elementary, middle, and high school. They are a partner committed to supporting our district in and out of the classroom.
CT3 serves schools and districts around the country. The organization is adept at immediately and sustainably shifting practices and improving school quality. Just as importantly, CT3 has achieved a level of racial diversity and equity that few, if any, education companies have accomplished, with 60% people of color and 65% women.
