Every day, educators are making history through their selfless service to our communities. CT3 and ASCD are recognizing some of these educators through Living History profiles to share their great work and powerful impact. This February, Black History Month, we highlight Black educators who are making history.
We spoke with Arryn E. Chenault, Intervention Specialist, Butler Tech Career and Development Schools.
What is your “Why” for working in education?
The reason I work in education is because I like to help students reach their fullest potential.
What do you hope for the future of education? How do you work to contribute to that future?
A passion of mine is making sure schools are equitable in serving students of color and different minority groups. I would like for education to become more diverse in Butler County. I would also like for every child to receive an equitable education no matter what school they go to.
What is the best piece of coaching you’ve ever received?
If there’s a problem with a student, always figure out the “why.”
What or who should we be reading, watching, or listening to right now?
We should be reading and listening to an old activist by the name of Angela Davis.
